  53. The only practicle antenna for AM is a Loop.  The last coupld of 
  54. receivers I purchased came with a loop antenna.  Try 10 to 15 turns on an 
  55. 6 to 12" form.

  115. compiled program are/is available via the INTERNET. I understand it is a 
  116. public domain program available from the NTIS (National Technical

  138. I've downloaded the nec-pc (NEC2D) executable from /pub/rander/NEC but
  139. have
  140. run across a run-time error.
  141. All geometries which involve patches crash the program.  The output file
  142. is
  143. written up to the point "antenna environment--(whatever)" and then output
  144. ceases.
  145. The run-time error description is:
  146. "NDP error-arithmetic overflow in hsfld.
  147. called by cmws
  148. called by cmset
  149. called by _lf_main"
  150. ok, I AM a FORTRAN programmer (even own the Lahey compiler that this
  151. program
  152. was made under) and a long-time NEC user.  What I want to know is, has
  153. anyone
  154. else had this problem?  Is there a patch available (outside of recompiling
  155. it
  156. all myself)?  Or have I made some stupid mistake somewhere?
  157. The NEC files I've been using for input are just the example files in the
  158. official documentation.

  187. Then go for the R5/R7's. I had a GAP and its good but not similar gain
  188. at the higher frequencies as the cushcraft. Also the MFJ series are a
  189. bit unwieldy and awkward to put together. One fellow local has one and
  190. the gain is not all it is hyped up to be in the ads. My R7 went up,
  191. required a bit of tuning but once up forget it. The GAP is great for
  192. sticking up and no tuning required and it does have 80M for that once in
  193. a while scan down there. With the sunspot 3's down for the next 2 years,
  194. 40/80M are the place to be so overall you might be better here. As a
  195. plus you do get 2/6M in the one antenna.
